Selection guide: a typical metallographic sequence
Grinding (AP806 paper): ferrous samples typically P240 → P320 → P400 → P600 → P800 → P1200 without skipping grits; soft non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper) can start at P1200; continue with P2000 / P3000 up to P10000 for a finer pre-polish. Choose the disc diameter to match your platen.
Polishing (velvet discs): switch to a velvet disc with diamond suspension, commonly 9 µm → 3 µm → 1 µm → 0.25 µm, or finish with alumina; use a fresh disc for each step.

Are Eagle, Global Eagle and NKT the same brand?
Yes. The logo is an eagle over a globe, so the brand is known as Eagle or Global Eagle; the paper is printed NKT. It is made by Namkyung Abrasive Ind. Co., Ltd, Korea. We are an authorized distributor supplying genuine product.
Can AP806 be used for metallographic sample preparation? What grit range?
Yes. AP806 is silicon carbide waterproof paper from P60 up to P10000, with discs in six diameters to fit grinder-polishers. It covers the whole grinding stage; switch to the velvet polishing discs for the final mirror finish.
Which disc diameters are available? Custom sizes?
Standard 180 / 200 / 250 / 280 / 300 / 350 mm to match common grinder-polisher platens. Other diameters can be cut to order.
PSA backing? How do I choose the velvet disc colour?
Both the paper and the velvet discs come with PSA adhesive backing or plain, your choice. Velvet discs are available in black, red and white; they are usually matched to the rough / fine / final polishing stages and your existing process. Tell us the sample material and we will recommend.
